Recent IAWJ Travels’ by Anne Goldstein, IAWJ Human Rights Education Director

The IAWJ has been working, as a partner in the International Legal Assistance Consortium (ILAC), on a multi-year project in the Middle East North Africa Region. So far, this program has taken IAWJ staff to Tunisia on a half dozen occasions. Tunisia is a country blessed not only with talented women judges, but also with spectacular beauty and fascinating history. These latter gifts have enabled the country to build an enviable reputation as a tourist destination for sun-starved northern Europeans, and to a lesser extent, for intrepid history-enthusiast Americans. That reputation took a hit last March 18th, when terrorists struck at the Bardo Museum, a national treasury of antique mosaics and other artwork.
